Turn Experience Into Certification!
Classroom training test outs provide Ford and Lincoln technicians the ability to leverage their previous experience and technical skills to skip a Ford STST training course. This enables them to bypass the entire training class and fast-track their journey to Ford certification.
Test Out Registration
To register for a test out, technicians must coordinate with dealership management to submit the request on their behalf. Test outs are arranged based on demand. Once a test-out has been scheduled, both the technician and the service manager will receive a notification confirming their enrollment.
Test Out Evaluation
Technicians must pass the same final exam as full class students, which includes a written test and a hands-on evaluation. A score of 80% or higher on the written test and passing the hands-on evaluation are required to receive class credit.

Learning
Prerequisites
Technicians attempting a test out are required to fulfill the same learning prerequisites as those outlined in the certification training planner before they can attempt a test out.
Test Prep
Test out participants can study, and are encouraged to do so, by downloading the course student guide from STARS prior to attempting the test out.

In-Person
Test Location
Participants must complete the test in person at one of the 30 Ford training centers located nationwide. When you submit a test out request, please indicate the specific Ford training center(s) where you wish to take the test.
Are You a New Ford or Lincoln Technician with Prior Experience?
New Ford and Lincoln technicians can expedite their journey to obtaining full Ford certification by submitting their transcripts for equivalency credit evaluation through the Ford FAST program.
