A Father & Son Technician Duo At Ford Motor City Homecoming

NFT News Aug 29 2025 20-Year Ford Senior Master Technician Daniel Larsen attended Motor City Homecoming earlier this month with Ford Lincoln Top Techs and brought his son, Jeremiah Larsen, who also happens to work at his dealership as a technician, as his guest. We had the chance to sit and talk to them about their father-son working relationship!

Daniel began his career in the automotive industry at a young age. His grandfather worked at a trucking company, so he learned a lot from watching him. They would also build hot rods together for fun. As he grew up, he began learning from his dad, who worked as a Body Shop Manager at a Ford Dealership. Through this, he was able to form connections with other technicians at the dealership, who then introduced him to the Ford ASSET Program, from which he proudly graduated from in 2003.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! His son, Jeremiah, got a job in high school cleaning up the shop at the same dealership as him, and when he turned 18, he joined the team as a lube technician. Today, they both work at Newberg Ford Oregon - Daniel as a Service Manager and Jeremiah as a lube technician.

Working with family is not always easy, but Daniel and Jeremiah have found their groove.

“It’s different,” Daniel said of mentoring his son. “As the Service Manager, I mentor a lot of young kids through the ASSET Program and through high schools, but with my son, it’s interesting in a good way.”

When we asked Jeremiah about his working relationship, he agreed that it’s a nice father-son bonding experience, being able to learn from his father. Having the opportunity to learn at the same dealership as his dad and learning from other technicians has made him appreciate what he does and not take it for granted. His advice for other young people getting into the technician field is to take it all in.

“Learn as much as you can when you’re first starting out from the people who have been doing this for way longer than you have,” he said. “It’ll help you in the long run.”
